Integrated Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis and Geographic Information System for Environmental Management
Frontier Technology, Inc (FTI) received a contract award to provide the US Army with an Environmental course of action (COA) evaluation framework. A decision aid which integrates disparate environmental data sources to address planning considerations associated with sediment removal, soil treatment, ground water remediation and contamination assessments can save resources by enabling robust evaluation of COAs. This tool will also be useful for other government organizations such as Homeland Security and FEMA as those organizations evaluate different solutions to environmental hazards caused man and nature. FTI has successfully implemented aspects of the technology foundation for this decision support tool over the past 24 months based on investments from Missile Defense Agency, Navy PEO Ships, and multiple DoD prime contractors. The initial proof of concept effort will use these capabilities to provide Army planners increased insight into how to qualitative and quantitative data can be integrated with Geographic Information System (GIS) insight to evaluate multiple solutions. In parallel, the FTI Team will commercialize this decision aide by applying it to commercial environmental companies supporting a range of environmental projects.
